    An opportunity has arisen for a Corporate Accountant to join the Finance team.

     

    Reporting into the Corporate Accounting Controller, you will form an integral part of the Corporate Control team that is responsible for statutory compliance, group reporting, treasury and balance sheet integrity. You will ensure that statutory accounts and associated tax requirements are prepared to a high standard and reported within the required deadlines whilst managing the relationship with the external reporting environment for 12 statutory companies.  

     

    This role will also give you the unique opportunity to be involved in the integration of FedEx and TNT by supporting two key projects being the migration of accounting software (SAP to Oracle).

    Responsibilities

    Key responsibilities and duties will include:-

     

    • Prepare the statutory accounts for UK Express and Corporate companies to meet TNT group and legal requirements
    • Management of the preparation of internal reports in line with TNT group requirements including quarterly forecasts, TSA, annual budgets, monthly reporting and disclosures for the Corporate companies
    • Management of the TSA process, including review of the templates completed by the team, as well as dealing with queries from head office
    • Ensure quarterly VAT returns are prepared in a timely fashion to a high standard and payment deadlines are met
    • Liaise and day to day management of the relationship with our professional advisors to facilitate the provision of P&L analysis and the submission of the UK tax returns
    • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations proposing improvements as appropriate
    • Assist in managing the audit process
    • Supporting both the daily and monthly treasury processes
    • Maintain a current and up to date knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
    • Produce regular technical updates for distribution to the financial accounting department and for wider distribution to the finance department and respond to all technical queries raised regarding accounting issues
    • Ensuring compliance with all relevant ICFR and SOx controls, assisting remediation with others where deficiencies are present

    Qualifications

    To be successful in the role you will be:-

    • A qualified accountant with up to date membership of a recognised body
    • Experience in Statutory accounts production
    • Experience in external audit process
    • Experience in effective communication with senior management to Director level
    • Strong up to date knowledge of Accounting principles and Standards (IFRS) with US GAAP desirable
    • Experience of TNT core applications is desirable – SAP, SAPBPC, BW, Microsoft Office products, Universe
